Before Wolf's Bus Lines, there
was Wolf's Garage where Grandfather Edwin and Grandmother
Leah Wolf operated a service station and sold new and
used trucks. During the late 1930's their son, Paul and
his wife Vada acquired the business and later changed
the name to Paul's Garage.
A lone bus began making its rounds in 1939 transporting
children to and from Blackberry School in nearby Latimore
Township. By 1946 Wolf's had expanded its fleet to provided
shuttle service for apple harvesting crews at the Musselman
plant in Biglerville as well as a commutation service
from Gettysburg to the Navy Depot in Mechanicsburg.
In 1947 Paul received regulatory authority to operate
a charter bus service. It was then that Wolf's Bus Lines
was born at the family homestead located in York Springs,
PA.
Through the acquisition of a local carrier Adams Transit,
limited motorcoach charter authority transferred. Three
Flxible (sic) coaches for charter service were part of
the deal, setting the trend for Wolf's to begin shifting
their focus from line haul service to motorcoach trips
and tours.
By 1962, the Wolf's made the commitment to provide the
comfort of rest rooms and air conditioning in all of their
charter coaches. By providing the top of the line safety
and comfort, the Wolf's assured their clients would keep
coming back.
In 1970 Wolf's obtained interstate charter and tour business
from points within Maryland and West Virginia with acquisition
of Antietam Transit. By 1977 Paul chose to sell his business
to his sons, Edwin and Bradley. The sons began construction
of the present headquarters soon after their purchase.
Federal deregulation of interstate commerce took effect
in 1982. This enabled Wolf's to pick up or drop off passengers
in any state so long as the motorcoach crossed state line
and did not provide local carriage.
This opportunity greatly expanded Wolf's group tour capability
so that today Wolf's Bus Lines is able to offer service
to popular destinations such as New York City, Washington,
D.C. and daily runs, during the summer, to Atlantic City.
The early years developed an enduring pattern of customer
loyalty. Jeannette Burgett of Carlisle and Shippensburg
University have been booking tours and charters annually
for over three decades. The Wolf family understand that
people appreciate reliable and friendly service, and are
committed to practicing their motto daily.
